Harvest Link is developing a new facility designed to transform how local food moves across Illinois. By providing co-packing, aggregation, and distribution infrastructure, this HUB strategically positioned to support coordinated distribution from Cairo to Chicago in two-hour increments, reducing food miles while increasing market access and increasing margins for farmers.
During 2026, Harvest Link will establish pickup and drop-off locations across Crawford, Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White counties in southeastern Illinois to support the continued growth of our network. As distribution expands to small grocery stores, schools, nursing homes, and hospitals, local farmers will gain reliable market access and a viable business model for producing specialty crops.
At the same time, fundraising efforts have begun to support construction of this facility, which will bring commercial kitchen activities and food distribution into one centralized location. By combining these functions, Harvest Link will increase efficiency while strengthening the infrastructure needed to move more locally grown food through the regional supply chain.
