Meet Laura Goemaat, the Farm2School Coordinator for our efforts. She was awarded the Illinois 2026 Food Service Director of the Year by Illinois State Board of Education for her efforts supporting six kitchens for Carmi-White County CUSD#5 and our outreach. Read the story here.
With great support from Lake Michigan School Food Innovation Hub and Seven Generations Ahead we were able to host a July harvest freezing project. Students across the region enjoyed this corn in Janurary, off of the cob and April in half cobs, when local food is hard to come by.
