The Mobile Chicken Processing Unit (MCPU) is a regional agricultural infrastructure project designed to support small and mid-sized poultry farmers across the Greater Wabash region. The project will consist of a fully equipped mobile processing trailer capable of traveling directly to farms and processing poultry onsite, helping address one of the largest barriers local producers face: access to affordable and scalable poultry processing services.
The unit will be capable of processing approximately 200 birds per day and will require only a water hookup and a level concrete or blacktop pad for operation. Because the unit is mobile rather than fixed-site, it can rotate between counties and serve farmers throughout the region in a practical and cost-effective way.
The estimated cost to construct and equip the Mobile Chicken Processing Unit is $85,000. First-year operational expenses, including insurance, permits, supplies, transportation, utilities, and partial salary support, are estimated at $125,000.
This project will strengthen regional food infrastructure, improve processing access for farmers, reduce transportation burdens, and support economic development across all six counties.

Refrigerated Delivery Truck
